Humans have occupied Ireland for the past 10,000 years, leaving us with a rich legacy of archaeological monuments and landscapes. We work to conserve this unique archaeological heritage.

Tidier Towns The Way Forward Conference

Tidier Towns the Way Forward: An exciting conference event brought to you by Avondhu Blackwater Partnership,  was held in Fermoy Co Cork on 12th February. The aim of the conference was to motivate community groups around the country to improve their areas. It was hoped that the conference would inspire and invigorate the public, encouraging their involvement in the planning and aesthetics of their local community.

This is of particular importance given the changing landscape of local government in Ireland today — driving forces at local level have never been more essential. This is a time for communities to pull together and take pride in their areas.

Speakers at the conference included Ms Alison Harvey, The Heritage Council  Mr Henk van der Kamp, Mr Simon Wall and Mr Diarmuid Gavin. As well as speaking individually throughout the day, these inspirational guests will come together to close out the event with a panel talk.

A wide variety of stallholders were also in attendance at the conference.

Tidier Towns — The Way Forward is the culmination of ‘Village Image’, a three-year, transnational, Rural Development Programme project undertaken by Avondhu Blackwater Partnership, Fermoy, and Noardwest Fryslan, their European partner company in Friesland, the Netherlands.
