Heritage Council Seeks Sponsor for National Heritage Week

National Heritage Week is the largest cultural event in Ireland with almost 1000 organisations and individuals involved in hosting 1800 unique events over 9 days. Heritage Week is co-ordinated in Ireland by the Heritage Council with support from Fáilte Ireland, and is part of European Heritage Days, which is celebrated in over 40 countries across Europe. In 2014 an estimated 400,000 people attended Heritage Week events across Ireland. In 2013, over half of Irish adults were aware of Heritage Week, with the event coming in at third position after the Gathering and Galway Arts Festival. The research also found a greater interest in the week amongst younger people, i.e. those under 35.
