Collections of diverse objects such as books, coins, vintage cars, boats and farm machinery provide a link with our past. The preservation of such collections is an important part our Museums and Archive work.

Butler Gallery Collection: Framing Conservation (2010)

Before this conservation work was undertaken, these paintings and works on paper were not being displayed in the gallery and remained in storage. The framing conservation work was essential in order to avoid contributory deterioration of the works by the materials surrounding it. The Butler Gallery received €5,000 in grant-aid towards the conservation works in 2010. This grant enabled the gallery to employ a framing conservator to bring these beloved works back into the public realm to enable the gallery to exhibit them to the people of Kilkenny and visitors alike.
