Filmed over a two-year period, this epic four-part series opens up the world of wonder that resides within Ireland’s oldest National Park in Killarney - a living archive of some of our most precious scenery, plants and wildlife.

Narrated by Irish environmentalist, writer and broadcaster, Dick Warner, this ground-breaking documentary will give viewers an unprecedented insight into one of the last wild places in Ireland. The Park captures rare action footage of wildlife - on land, in the air, under water - focusing in particular on endangered species that have found a haven within the park. The Park is set to be a truly stunning television experience for the viewer.

Produced by Midas Productions for TV3, The Park documents how this national treasure dramatically changes from season to season and the magic of the flora and fauna that reside within this UNESCO Biosphere Reserve.

The series premiere focuses on ‘Summer’, when Killarney National Park is alive with colour and life as many of the Park’s species are mating or taking care of newborn. With footage of some of Ireland’s rarest and most beautiful insects that have never before been caught on camera, this series begins with the raucous beauty of summer, the busiest time of year for the park’s wildlife.  We also meet Paudi; the first white tailed eagle born in Ireland in over a century.

Talking about the new documentary series, ‘The Park’ Series Producer, Lucia Gavin said: "It was a privilege to have been given the opportunity to capture the stunning beauty of Ireland's largest National Park over these four seasons.  We believe it is a unique portrait of one of the last wild places in Ireland."

‘The Park’ airs Sunday 16th March 2014 at 8pm on TV3.
